Evidently produced by the same Soviet model kit design team sometime during the Cold War, each of the subs is a separate injection molded plastic kit. The kits build into full hull models ranging from five to seven and a half inches in length. This very basic full-hull rendition of this s-era Soviet sub is depicted as it appeared during World War II with the mm deck gun but with the conning tower mounted mm gun removed. It is what you would expect from a Russian model kit from the Soviet era: On the plus side, the basic dimensions are correct and the hull parts have surprisingly nice recessed limber hole and torpedo door detail. As with all three subs it is very basic with a two part full-hull split down the keel-rudder-deck centerline. This leaves a seam right down the middle of the main deck, which is completely devoid of molded in detail. Fit generally is poor.

Through the last year of the war the unwavering pilots who flew these two mighty aircraft became the scourge of the German Army, blasting their way through armoured formations, destroying airfields, shipping, barges, bridges, trains, marshalling yards, rail hubs, anything to support the advancing British and Canadian armies as they battled their way through Belgium and the Netherlands towards the Rhine.
Having just destroyed two Dornier Do18 flying boats on the water, he now helps finish off a Bf and a Fw that have tried to pounce from above. It was probably the most versatile aircraft of World War Two and the missions undertaken by the Mosquito and her crews have rarely been equalled for their daring or precision. What made the Mosquito unique however is that it was built mainly of wood and, at a time when metal was in extremely short supply, was a triumph of construction. What do you make of that?
There is nothing the British do not have. After the Dambusters Raid the squadron remained operational, becoming known as precision-bombing specialists, undertaking some of the most famous missions of WWII; the Dortmund-Ems Canal, Kembs Barrage and sinking of the mighty German Battleship Tirpitz are just a few of the countless operations carried out by the unit. David Maltby powers Lancaster AJ-J away from the target as his Upkeep mine successfully detonates against the already damaged dam wall.
Within seconds the dam will rupture releasing a terrifying wall of water flooding into the valley below. Doolittle on Sunday 18 April , has rightfully entered the history books as one of the most daring and courageous operations of the Second World War. On that day, in mid ocean, Doolittle had launched his B Mitchell bomber from the heaving, spray-soaked flight deck of an aircraft carrier, a deck too short to land on, and flown on to bomb Tokyo. He knew there would be no return to the USS Hornet, either for him or the 15 heavily- laden B s behind him, for this was a feat never before attempted, and for every crew member the mission was a one-way ticket.
Yet, under the leadership of Jimmy Doolittle, they all dared to survive. The mission for the 16 bombers was to bomb industrial targets in Tokyo and surrounding areas, to slow production of strategic war material, then fly on to land in the part of south-west China that was still in the hands of friendly Nationalist forces.

Well there is still a chance that your car was built in the previous year, and DVLA accommodate this situation also. DVLA will accept a dating certificate from BMIHT Gaydon, which shows the actual date of manufacture from the archived Rover production records as evidence that the car was made in the previous year. You as the vehicle owner would have to gather this evidence yourself and send it to them as proof.
Details of how to apply for a dating certificate are given at the bottom of this article. You can do this in person at a Post Office that deals with Vehicle Tax.

Bill Tuplin must have been a delightful man who shared a love of steam locomotives with a fear that the automobile would kill the British countryside. But in spite of his engineering background his views on how the steam locomotive should have been constructed are frequently perverse and should be read with caution, sometimes with extreme caution. Ell’s and Carling’s comments on Tuplin’s paper presented to the Institution of Locomotive Engineers need to be absorbed, before Tuplin’s observations are cited as evidence.
As the extract from North Western steam illustrates Tuplin was an excellent story teller, but is it fact or faction? His response to Cox’s paper on the British Standard locomotives contains several gems from his caustic observations. He entered Manchester University in and graduated with honours in Mechanical Engineering in He was awarded an MSc for work on torsional vibration, and his DSc in

The owner of a newly-imported Russian Mi-2 helicopter has had his aircraft grounded at California’s Hayward Airport while the FAA looks into allegations that he flew it without an Airworthiness Certificate and without locally-required insurance documents. Officials in Oakland, California, where pilot Thierry Thys was based, asked him for the documents, but when he couldn’t produce them and later flew the Mi-2 to nearby Hayward , the FAA was notified.
The pilot was not injured, and damage to the aircraft was relatively minor.

Montgomery , William M. The original partnership agreement, signed by Price, Holyland and Waterhouse could be found in Southwark Towers , one of PwC’s important legacy offices now demolished. As a result of growing trade between the United Kingdom and the United States, Price Waterhouse opened an office in New York in , and the American firm itself soon expanded rapidly. The original British firm opened an office in Liverpool in and then elsewhere in the United Kingdom and worldwide, each time establishing a separate partnership in each country: It was said by those involved with the failed merger that at the end of the discussion, the partners at the table realized they had different views of business, and the potential merger was scrapped.
Management Consulting Services MCS was the fastest growing and often most profitable area of the practice, though it was cyclical. The major cause for growth in the s was the implementation of complex integrated ERP systems for multi-national companies. PwC came under increasing pressure to avoid conflicts of interests by not providing some consulting services, particularly financial systems design and implementation, to its audit clients.
Since it audited a large proportion of the world’s largest companies, this was beginning to limit its consulting market. These conflicts increased as additional services including outsourcing of IT and back office operations were developed. An outside consultancy , Wolff Olins , was hired to create a brand image for the new entity, called “Monday”.

A short version was banned by the BBFC for: A Women’s prison video in which the female prisoners were coerced, degraded and brutalised. Bare Behind Bars was more insidious than Sadomania in its degradation, since inmates were portrayed as a herd, indistinguishable in their nakedness like animals in a cage. Imprisoned physically and psychologically, they were sexual objects, not subjects, instinctual creatures for whom sex remained the only release. Its appeal rested primarily on the spectacle of naked women en masse, at the mercy of cruel authority, the meagre narrative moving through image after image of violation – by sex, by medical examination, by crude sex toys, by razor blades, by rats.
If the film lacks the peaks of evil or atrocity that characterise Sadomania , it substitutes a relentless reduction of all that is human or valuable in these woman as individuals.

The masters, being fewer in number, can combine much more easily; and the law, besides, authorises, or at least does not prohibit their combinations, while it prohibits those of the workmen. We have no acts of parliament against combining to lower the price of work; but many against combining to raise it. In all such disputes the masters can hold out much longer.
A landlord, a farmer, a master manufacturer, a merchant, though they did not employ a single workman, could generally live a year or two upon the stocks which they have already acquired. Many workmen could not subsist a week, few could subsist a month, and scarce any a year without employment. In the long run the workman may be as necessary to his master as his master is to him; but the necessity is not so immediate. However, as a system of regulating the employment relationship, labour law has existed since people worked.
In feudal England, the first significant labour laws followed the Black Death. Given the shortage of workers and consequent price rises the Ordinance of Labourers and the Statute of Labourers attempted to suppress sources of wage inflation by banning workers organisation, creating offences for any able-bodied person that did not work, and fixing wages at pre-plague levels.

The page in ‘Where Ships Are Born’ states that John commenced a shipbuilding business at North Sands in That date may well be incorrect, however, since this fine page, dating from , references him (about 30% down) as being a builder at that location nine years earlier, in , when John was just 18 years old business was at that location until , when Mr. Joseph L.
Return to Locomotives index page Diesel Locomotives Note: The text of this section has been completely revised and updated by Alan Cox in mid and now contains a lot more technical information on the individual classes of engine. I am also deeply indebted to the members of the uk. Petrol and diesel engines turned up earlier than many modellers assumed. A small number were in use on the mainstream railways as early as Many small narrow gauge petrol engines were also built for the first world war for operation on the 60cm gauge trench railways supplying the front line.
Some of these were armoured about 30 I believe , others were not and after the war both types saw extensive service at industrial locations such as sand quarries and the like. Both engines shown are of the larger 40 horse power type, the unit on the left is the non armoured type, that on the right the armoured. The doors are on one side only, the driver sits with his back against the opposite side, by looking right and left he can see ahead and behind without turning round. On the armoured unit there are double doors smaller and easier to open in a trench and there is a viewing slit on the drivers side as well, which would be just behind his head.
The armoured unit has a silencer, this was sometimes fitted, sometimes not.

Cover us in, and luck attend your store. Today, the Railway Regulation Act is remembered mainly for its requirement that: In his lines in the operetta, The Mikado, the lyricist W. Gilbert satirized this slow and inconvenient form of travel thus: The idiot who, in railway carriages, Scribbles on window panes, To ride on a buffer, In parliamentary trains.
In return for this concession, the railway operator was exempted from paying duty on third-class passengers. However, train fares remained high, not only for the working classes, but for many potential first and second-class travellers.
