White braid band a little grubby Patent leather black peak with brass edge. The pistol has a good working action. It has an overall grey patina. A good solid pistol but there has been some pitting- please see photo. In my opinion this does not detract from a desirable Colt New Line, especially as it has matching serial numbers and is a scarce two digit number. This replaces the bottom front furniture on the AK and also clamps to the bayonet lug. Comes with leather end cap. Deactivated with fully moving parts and working dry-fire action Comes with deactivation certificate.

That was the estimate Bonhams had in mind for this piece of classic bike history when it came up for auction at the firm’s October sale at Stafford. A very respectable 57bhp was claimed with the maximum speed touching mph. But Hobbs was unsatisfied and took the bike to Ted “Barry” Baragwanath pictured left. Baragwanath, a well-known and well-respected Brooklands sidecar racer and tuner who also ran a motor repair business in North London and was noted for wearing a winged collar with his riding gear coaxed the horsepower up to around 65 from This was achieved by increasing the compression ratio to 8.
Moby was now able to hit mph in top gear 3rd , and reach mph in second. Despite all this, Hobbs didn’t fare as well as he’d hoped at Brooklands, but he did better at the Gatwick Speed Trials in both the solo and the sidecar class. By , Moby Dick was sold and passed through the hands of Alfred J Cain and Tom Eccles, the latter of whom kept the bike for 40 years.
Bonhams is bound to be disappointed at the result of this sale, and will no doubt be looking anxiously at their next sale at Harrogate to see if this represents a new downward trend see item below. For more on this, see Sump September

Retaining an age related number UK only Important advice notes for retaining an original number or obtaining an age related one UK only First and foremost, having a registration number on a machine with no documents is not proof that this number ever belonged to it. It is up to you to provide proof of entitlement, not the Club.
We authenticate your valid claim as required by the DVLA. If you have an un-restored machine, it may well be worth seeking advice before you start the rebuild. The DVLA has a points scoring system in order to retain an existing registration or obtain an age related number. Before European settlement[ edit ] Approximate extent of Kaurna territory, based on the description by Amery Before its proclamation as a British settlement in , the area around Adelaide was inhabited by the indigenous Kaurna Aboriginal nation pronounced “Garner”. Kaurna culture and language were almost completely destroyed within a few decades of European settlement of South Australia, but extensive documentation by early missionaries and other researchers has enabled a modern revival of both.
The event is commemorated in South Australia as Proclamation Day. Wakefield had read accounts of Australian settlement while in prison in London for attempting to abduct an heiress, and realised that the eastern colonies suffered from a lack of available labour, due to the practice of giving land grants to all arrivals.
North Terrace in As it was believed that in a colony of free settlers there would be little crime, no provision was made for a gaol in Colonel Light’s plan. But by mid the South Australian Register was warning of escaped convicts from New South Wales and tenders for a temporary gaol were sought. Adelaide’s early economy started to get on its feet in with the arrival of livestock from Victoria , New South Wales and Tasmania.
Wool production provided an early basis for the South Australian economy. By , wheat farms had been established from Encounter Bay in the south to Clare in the north. Gawler was recalled and replaced by George Edward Grey in Grey slashed public expenditure against heavy opposition, although its impact was negligible at this point: The city exported meat, wool, wine, fruit and wheat by the time Grey left in , contrasting with a low point in when one-third of Adelaide houses were abandoned.

Winifred and Alice entered the home in January The birth certificate of Alice Maud daughter has been obtained — click here. So far it has not proved possible to locate the other three birth certificates, although attempts continue. It is looking very much as if these three births were not registered. In the census click here they are living at No 55 Queen Street, Marylebone: Arthur’s occupation is now shown as “Accountant” and Alice’s as “Book-keeper”.
The Dr Barnardo’s records state that Arthur was fifty-six when the children entered the home, which corresponds with the age of fifty-three declared in this census. In both the and censuses, Arthur and Alice are described as “Married” although no marriage certificate has been traced, and in fact the Dr Barnardo’s records state that they never married, possibly for the reason that Arthur was already married. However, in the census none of the three living children appears.
We know that in all four were living, so where were they at census time? The place of birth looks at first sight to be unlikely; but Alice Maud’s older sister Florence, when she was giving birth to her illegitimate daughter Irene in , did so in Portsea.
